As a Celebrant my aim is to connect and build a rapport with the people who require my services, for me that is the building block on the 'us' in your ceremony.
My name is Lesley McConnell and my dream to become a Celebrant began in Victoria over 30 years ago.
But, as I have learned, things invariably happen when they are meant to and in September 2008 my dream became a reality, in Queensland; then on the 1st April, 2016 the second part of the dream happened when I became a Civil Partnership Notary.
For you to be respected, understood, and heard. For me to listen, understand and create your vision.
My philosophy as both a Celebrant and as a Civil Partnership Notary, is to ensure you have the ceremony you want.
I feel to achieve the vision for your special day, a rapport is essential as we journey together.
Therefore my promise is to listen, to honour your requests (where possible) and to be committed to ensuring that the end result is all you wanted and hopefully more.
There are no accidents in life...we meet the people we need to meet when the time is right!

WE’RE NOT RELIGIOUS, IS THAT OK?
I’m a Civil Celebrant so provided that we have all the legal requirements sorted we can include whatever you want. No religious elements are needed but we can include them if you like.

WHAT ABOUT VOWS? DO WE NEED TO SAY THEM AND CAN YOU HELP US WITH THEM?
By law, you have to say your minimum legal vows which I will have for you to read on the day. Personal vows are an incredible way to declare how you feel about your person but are 100% optional. I have a vow guide I send to any of my couples that would like some guidance.
WE’RE ENGAGED! WHERE DO WE START?
Chat with each other about what you envisage for your ceremony. Pick a place and a date then let me know what you’re after and we can go from there. Don’t leave it too late, I book up pretty quickly (especially for Saturdays).
WHAT TYPE OF CELEBRANT ARE YOU AND HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CEREMONIES YOU PRESENT?
I am a relaxed, chilled but very professional celebrant and I love my job. I love working with couples that trust me to do what I do with flair, charisma and the ability to balance the fun with the serious sides. I offer personalised ceremonies that are warm, friendly, engaging and a little bit fun. The balance between the sentiment and the fun elements is very important and can be a fine line. A great celebrant is able to assess an audience and flex their presentation style accordingly. After all, it’s the unplanned moments that can be the most memorable and you need someone with the skills to be able to capture those moments.
